I’M NOT a very big fan of the whip. For me, it’s usually more in my way then it’s helping me. But, the whip can be used in two occasions for dressage. When clarifying something for the young horse, and when making greater demands with the advanced horse. The use of the whip begins with just touching the horses body, and it can increase to a light tap but should never ever ever under any circumstances degenerate into a hard blow.

Tips: when the horse has responded to the use of the whip – caressed him with it. As the whip should just be an extension of your natural aids. The fact that the horse experiences the whip as an aid, and not as a punishment, totally relies in the use of the rider. Aight?!
